Food self-sufficiency, farm income and the EU's environmental objectives: the role of policies

Climate change is a global issue and has a direct impact on the productivity and income of farmers. On the other hand, EU-27 environmental goals in the field of climate change, biodiversity, natural resource protection has a negative impact on the competitiveness of European farmers. Environmental requirements increase farmers' costs or reduce their incomes. The setting of the new agricultural policy for the years 2028-2034 must respond to both the environmental and the economic needs of farmers. The dissertation is focused on: i) Evaluation of the impacts of not addressing climate change on EU agriculture ii) Analysis of the impact of the environmental requirements of the current CAP on the costs and revenues of farmers of different types of farms iii) Evaluation of the impact of environmental requirements on EU food security iv) Formulation of EU agricultural policy recommendations. Topic for applicants for full time study. Dissertation will be processed in Slovak language or in English language.

Klimatická zmena je globálnym problémom a má priamy vplyv na produktivitu a príjmy poľnohospodárov. Sledovanie environmentálnych cieľov v oblasti klimatickej zmeny, biodiverzity, ochrany prírodných zdrojov má na druhej strane negatívny dopad na konkurencieschopnosť európskych farmárov. Environmentálne požiadavky zvyšujú farmárom náklady resp. znižujú ich príjmy. Nastavenie novej poľnohospodárskej politiky pre roky 2028-2034 musí reagovať aj na environmentálne aj na ekonomické potreby poľnohospodárov. Dizertačná práca je zameraná na: i) Zhodnotenie dopadov neriešenia klimatickej zmeny na poľnohospodárstvo EÚ ii) Analýzu dopadov environmentálnych požiadaviek súčasnej SPP na náklady, výnosy poľnohospodárov rôznych typov fariem iii) Zhodnotenie vplyvu environmentálnych požiadaviek na potravinovú bezpečnosť EÚ iv) Formulovanie odporúčaní poľnohospodársku politiky EÚ Téma pre uchádzačov o dennú formu štúdia. Dizertačná práca sa bude spracovávať v slovenskom jazyku alebo v anglickom jazyku.
