SCHOLARSHIP FOR GRADUATE, ENROLLED IN COURSE NON-CONFERING ACADEMIC DEGREE - BI-LIC-ECOSEED

At the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (FCUL), a call is open for the attribution of 1 (one) research grant for graduates, enrolled in a course that does not confer an academic degree, financed by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) , through the Lisbon PO - Lisbon Regional Operational Program (Portugal 2020), within the scope of the project “EcoSeed - Optimization of the seed microbiome to obtain phenotypes that generate fertility and adapted to climatic conditions” (project no. 72228), according to the following conditions:

SCIENTIFIC AREA: Biology.

CANDIDATES MUST FULFIL THE FOLLOWING MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

- Degree in Molecular Biology, Cellular and Molecular Biology or related areas;

- Enrollment, in academic year 2021/2022, in a course that does not lead to an academic degree integrated in the educational project of a higher education institution and developed in association or cooperation with one or several R&D Units;

- Knowledge in Cellular and Molecular Biology;

- Basic training on the impact of agriculture on soil ecology;

- Basic notions of the nexus between food and sustainability;

- Previous work in the field of biofertilizers.

If the academic degree required as a requirement for admission to the type of fellowship in question has been obtained abroad, you must consider the point 13 of the Public Notice regarding certificates of academic qualification.

Preference will be given to candidates with the following requirements:

- Good knowledge of English;

- Statistical understanding.

WORK PLAN:

- Collection of soil samples in tests related to the project;

- Development of biofertilizers that promote plant growth;

- Carrying out bio control tests for typical pasture diseases;

- Mesocosm efficacy trials;

- Stigma inoculation of greenhouse-grown plants;

- Evaluation of the inoculation effect on the endophytic community of G1 seeds.

PLACE OF WORK:

The work will be developed at Centro de Ecologia, Evolução e Alterações Ambientais (cE3c) of FCUL.

SCIENTIFIC SUPERVISION:

Professor Cristina Maria Nobre Sobral de Vilhena da Cruz Houghton and Juliana Melo da Conceição, PhD, in co-orientation.

FELLOWSHIP DURATION:

The fellowship is expected to begin in December 2021. This fellowship is open for six (6) months, with an exclusivity regime, possibly renewable up to a maximum of 12 months including the initial duration, conditioned to the project end date of 31-03-2023.

MONTHLY ALLOWANCE AND SOCIAL SECURITY:

- The fellowship amount corresponds to € 835,98 (eight hundred and thirty-five euros and ninety-eight cents), according to FCT Regulation for Research Fellowships, published by Regulation no. 950/2019 in the Diário da República, 2nd series, no. 241, of 16th of December, and available in the link:

https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.pt . It will be paid monthly by bank transfer;

- The candidate to be hired may exercise his right to social insurance by joining the voluntary social insurance scheme, under the terms of the Statute of the Research Fellowship. The financing entities assume the costs resulting from the contributions provided for this Social Insurance, according to the Statute of the Research Fellowship.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Candidates will be assessed based on their Curriculum vitae (CV) evaluation and, eventually, on a selection interview.

If the selection jury decides to proceed with the selection interview it will be held to the 3 (three) candidates with the highest classifications in the CV evaluation. In this case, the final classification will be obtained with a weighted average considering the following weights: 50% for the CV evaluation and 50% for the selection interview.
