Applications are open for 1 Research Studentship, within the framework of project/R&D institution Tecnologias Sustentáveis para remoção de Micropoluentes de Água/IST-ID (PTDC/EAMBAMB/2023/2021, financed by national funds through FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC

Workplan: The main objective of this work is the implementation in microfluidics of a separation process for the water purification using Deep Eutectic solvents. The work will have the following 3 tasks: i) preparation of microfluidic structures; ii) Continuous liquid-liquid extraction of pollutants using NADES using microfluidics; iii) continuous adsorption using impregnated NADES in microfluidics.

Duration: The research fellowship(s) will have the duration of 6 months. It’s expected to begin in May 2024, and may be eventually renewed and the sum of the duration of the initial contract and any renewals may not exceed 12 months .

Benefits

Monthly maintenance allowance: According to the values for Research Fellowships awarded by FCT in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_atualizacao-2024.pdf ), the amount of the monthly maintenance allowance is €1259,64, being the payment method an option of the Fellow by Wire Transfer/Check.

Selection process

Selection methods: The selection methods will be the following: 50% curricular assessment and 50% adequate laboratory experience in thermodynamics of alternative solvents.

Composition of the Jury: Prof. Isabel Marrucho, Prof. Teresa Duarte, Prof. José Nuno Canongia Lopes.

Announcement/ notification of the results: The final evaluation results will be communicated to all applicants by email.

Deadlines and procedures of complaint and appeal . A complaint may be lodged from the final decision within 15 working days, or an appeal to the Executive Board of IST-ID within 30 working days, both counted from the respective notification
