Research Student Fellowship (BI – Bachelor)

LIP opens a call for selection of fellows for a Research Student Fellowship (BI – Bachelor) in the scope of the project QML-HEP, with the reference CERN/FIS-COM/0004/2021, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), call for R&D Project Grants in all Scientific Domains (State Budget). This project is pending of approval.

Work plan:

The selected candidate will develop studies of magnetic excitations in S-spin systems, focused on the generation of effective Hamiltonians by coupling to external fields. It will be studied which hamiltonians have nontrivial topologies and established the connection with the generation of new hamiltonians through machine learning techniques. The work will be developed with the scientific supervision of Prof. Nuno Peres.

Legislation:

A fellowship contract will be established according to the “Regulations for Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology” (https://dre.pt/application/conteudo/127238533 ) and to the Status of Scientific Research Fellow (Law nº 40/2004 de 18 de Agosto, and its successive amendments).

Duration:

The fellowship has a duration of 6 months, eventually renewable (maximum duration 12 months), with a foreseen starting date on February 1st, 2022.
