Admission Requirements:

In what concerns the admission requirements for this research grant in particular: candidates must have a master degree in electrical engineering or related areas and be enrolled in a PhD program in electrical engineering or related areas and have skills in the area of ​​power electronics, programming with Matlab/Simulink and finite elements analysis software.

Work Objectives: The objective of this project is to develop a design methodology for a wireless battery charging system in electric traction vehicles. To this end, an analysis of electrical and magnetic circuits must be carried out for the double coupling option and a model must be established to carry out these simulations in Matlab/SImulink.

Therefore, the main objectives of this scholarship are: (i) Survey and power requirements taking into account vehicle positioning tolerances and compliance of stray magnetic fields with human exposure limits; (ii) Analytical derivation and modeling of the selected resonant architecture, controlled with voltage/current source characteristics; (iii) Magnetic modeling of different cylindrical geometries and extraction of sizing guides; (iv) experimental validation of the developed model.

Applicable legislation: A fellowship will be celebrated according to “Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação”, Law no. 40/2004, dated on 18th of August (Status of Scientific Research Fellow - https://dre.pt/dre/legislacao-consolidada/lei/2004-58216179 ), in its actual redaction, by Fellowship Regulation of Fundação para Ciência e Tecnologia (https://files.dre.pt/2s/2019/12/241000000/0009100105.pdf ), according to Reg. 950/2019, dated on 16th of December, and also by “Regulation of Instituto de Telecomunicações’ fellowships”.

Place of work: The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at Coimbra, under the supervision of Prof. André Mendes

Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of renewal. Start date: 15st of April 2024 or soon thereafter.

Monthly salary: 1.259,64 € According to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_atualizacao-2024.pdf) /according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by Instituto de Telecomunicações. The payment will be made by bank transfer.

Selection criteria: The candidate will be selected based on their CV (25%), demonstrated experience in tasks related to the work plan of this project (35%), interview (30%), oral and written fluency in English (10%).

The Jury has the right to not admit any of the candidates that applied for this position whenever they consider that no candidate meets the minimum requirements for the position.
