Work plan:

Since 2002, the World Happiness Report has used statistical analysis to determine the world's happiest countries. In 2021, the report concluded that Finland is the happiest country in the world. This index looked at 149 countries, specifically considering performance in six specific categories: gross domestic product per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make your own life choices, generosity of the general population, and perceptions of levels of internal and external corruption levels. Some of these categories are not associated with observable variables, so this work aims to identify the main determinants of countries' happiness, considering macroeconomic variables, variables that characterize each country's dominant climate, levels of literacy, and access to health, among others.

It is also intended that the grant holder: i) obtains a database with information on the happiness index of countries and the respective variables of interest; ii) compares happiness indexes between different continents and understands how the respective determinants behave in different contexts.

To achieve these objectives, besides exploratory data analysis, parametric and non-parametric hypothesis tests and generalized linear models are used.
