Offer Description

Summary: There is an open call for one (1) Research Initiation Grant (“Bolsa de Iniciação à Investigação”) at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of Project MH-SDVANET - PTDC/EEI-COM/5284/2020. This project is funded by FCT/MEC through national funds.

The work for this position is in the area of SDN architectures for 5G networks targeting communication between vehicles for autonomous and assisted driving.

Scientific Area: Networks and services

Group: Network Architectures and Protocols – Av

Work Objectives: Evaluation of SDN-based solutions for vehicular networks in vehicle-to-vehicle communications in scenarios of autonomous and assisted driving.

Place of work: The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at University of Aveiro, under the supervision of Dr. Nuno Miguel Abreu Luís.

Duration: 3 months, with the possibility of renewal. This type of scholarship has a maximum duration of 1 year. Start date: May 2024 or soon thereafter.

Specific Requirements

Admission Requirements:

Research Initiation Grants are intended:

  • for students enrolled in a professional higher technical course, undergraduate degree, integrated master's degree, or master's degree, to undertake initial R&D activities, with a view to beginning their scientific training through integration in R&D projects to be developed in national institutions.
  • for students carrying out initial R&D activities who are enrolled in non-degree courses integrated in the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units.

Candidates must be enrolled in a 1st cycle graduation program in electronics and telecommunications engineering, or equivalent, with knowledge in the area of communication networks and electronics, with great-motivation and ability for teamwork.

Benefits

Monthly salary: 601.12€ according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ). The payment will be made by bank transfer.

Selection process

Selection criteria:

Evaluation of the curriculum vitae and other relevant documentation (60%)

Suitability of the candidates’ profile based on the relevant work experience in the tasks described in the work objectives (40%)
