The University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) opens a call for tender for the award of 1 Research Grants (students enrolled in an integrated master's, master's, doctoral or non-academic degree course, Article 6, Regulation No. 950/2019 of the FCT). within the scope of the R&D project/institution Bis+Olive project: The use of olive pomace in the feeding of swine of the Bisaro Breed. Assessment of the effect on growth and meat quality, operation no. NORTE-01-0247-FEDER-072234, BI/UTAD/37/2022, funded by Funded by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) through NORTE 2020 (Program Northern Regional Operational 2014/2020), under the following conditions:

Admission requirements:

1) - Must have knowledge in the project area and in the laboratory techniques to be performed; *2) - Must be fluent in Portuguese*;3) - Must have immediate availability*;4) - Must be motivated for the tasks to be performed;5) - Must be available for travel and visits to farms;6) - Preference will be given to candidates with a master's degree and candidates with a bachelor's degree will only be hired if no master degree won’t apply or if they do apply but they are not in the desired area of ​​training and/or do not have the relevant experience referred above;7) - Candidate enrolled or who meets the requirements to enroll in a non-degree course, or in a 3rd cycle course, in accordance with the FCT Research Grants Regulation, Regulation No. 950/2019*;

Work plan:

The Fellow will be integrated in activity 1: Assessment of the levels of incorporation of olive pomace in the diet of Bísaros pigs and assessment of its physiological and zootechnical effects;

Its main tasks will be: 1 - Develop field, laboratory and office tasks in collaboration with the project team; 2 - In-depth research on the physical-chemical characteristics of bagasse and its effect on animals and derived products; 3 - Sample processing and analysis work; 4 – Organization, evaluation and statistical data treatment, relating them to the underlying factors of production;

Workplace: The work will be carried out at UTAD - Department of Animal Science at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, under the scientific supervision of Professor Divanildo Outor Monteiro.

Duration of scholarship:

The fellowship will last for 6 months, starting from August 2022.

Monthly maintenance allowance amount:

The scholarship amount corresponds to 875,98 € according to the table of scholarships awarded directly by the FCT, I.P. in the country (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ). The period of payment of the scholarship is monthly and through bank deposit, check or another equivalent method.

Advertising form / Results notification:

The final results of the evaluation will be publicized through a ranked list posted on the UTAD Campus Online Page (http://www.campus.utad.pt/bolsasinvestigacao/candidaturas ), with the candidate being approved notified via email.

In the event that the selected scholarship holder withdraws, the final ranking list of candidates in this competition may be used to replace them. If none of the candidates demonstrates that they have the profile indicated to carry out the work plan, the jury reserves the right not to award the scholarship to the competition.

If the decision to be taken is unfavourable to the granting of the requested scholarship, the candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the aforementioned disclosure, to express their opinion, if desired, in a prior hearing, under the terms provided for in the Code of Administrative Procedure.
