The University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) opens a call for one (1) Research Grant for Students enrolled in an integrated master's program or master's program, in Computer Sciences, in the frame of the R&D project Vine & Wine PT, BI/UTAD/48/2023 with the financial support of Project Vine&Wine Portugal - Driving Sustainable Growth Through Smart Innovation, Application number C644866286-00000011, funded by the NextGeneration EU, through Portugal's Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), within the scope of Mobilizing Agendas for Business Innovation, under the following conditions:

Admission requirements:

1st - Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering*;

2nd - Experience in conducting research work on topics related to data analysis and intelligent computational models*;

3rd - Good command of the English language, especially in written form;

4th - Mandatory document submission (curriculum vitae, letter of motivation, declaration of honor regarding the submission of proof of enrollment up to the moment of contracting - see point 2 of article 10 of Regulation No. 950/2019 of FCT Research Scholarships - and personal identification elements)*;

Work plan:

1. Collection, processing, and analysis of relevant data for the development of optimization models aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the hybrid solar-wind energy system with energy storage.

2. Study of synthetic data generation models and "Data augmentation" techniques for time series data.

3. Implementation and adaptation of the models mentioned in point 2 and their application to the data from point 1.

4. Testing and performance analysis of the developed models.

5. Collaboration in the writing of scientific articles, presentations at scientific events, and events targeted at other audiences, as well as all activities related to disseminating project results.

Workplace:

The work will be developed at the Engineering Department of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, under the scientific guidance of Professor José Baptista.

Duration of scholarship:

The fellowship will last for x months, starting from November to 2023. The scholarship contract may be renewed, and the total duration may not exceed 12 months.

Note:

If the grant is awarded to students enrolled in a course that does not confer an academic degree, the contract cannot exceed a total duration of 12 months.

Monthly maintenance allowance amount:

The scholarship amount corresponds to €930,98 according to the table of scholarships awarded directly by the FCT, I.P. in the country (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ). The period of payment of the scholarship is monthly and through bank deposit, check or another equivalent method.

The selection methods to be used will be as follows:

Curriculum Evaluation and Interview, with a respective weighting of 50% and 50% respectively.

Form of advertising/notification of results:

The final results of the evaluation will be publicized through a ranked list posted on the UTAD Campus Online Page (http://www.campus.utad.pt/bolsasinvestigacao/candidaturas ), with the candidate being approved notified via email.

In the event that the selected scholarship holder withdraws, the final ranking list of candidates in this competition may be used to replace them. If none of the candidates demonstrates that they have the profile indicated to carry out the work plan, the jury reserves the right not to award the scholarship to the competition.

If the decision to be taken is unfavourable to the granting of the requested scholarship, the candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the aforementioned disclosure, to express their opinion, if desired, in a prior hearing, under the terms provided for in the Code of Administrative Procedure.
