A call for applications is now open for a research grant at MSc. level, within the scope of the R&D project, PTDC/QUI-QOR/1786/2021 (Exploring New Chemical Space Powered by the Functionalization of Natural Bisquinolizidine Alkaloids) supported by national funds through FCT.
Admission Requirements: The candidates must: i) Hold a M.Sc. in chemistry, chemical engineering, chemical and biological engineering or related areas; ii) Be enrolled in a PhD program; iii) Have previous experience in an organic chemistry laboratory, namely in the synthesis and characterization of metal complexes and in the development of synthetic methodologies
For cases in which the academic degree was obtained in a non-Portuguese academic institution, the degree must be recognized by a Portuguese academic institution, in accordance with Portuguese legislation (artigo 25.º do Decreto-Lei n.º 66/2018, de 16 de agosto, e alínea e) do n.º2 do artigo 4.º do Decreto-Lei nº 60/2018, de 03 de agosto).
The enrolment in a Ph.D. program or in a non-degree course must be realized until the first day of the contract. Candidates are requested to submit a written statement about their eligibility to enroll in a Ph.D. program or in a non-degree course at the University of Aveiro.
Work Plan: The post will be taken to perform studies on the use of natural bisquinolizidine as inductors of enantioselectivity in homogeneous catalysis, likely using metal complexes. The molecules to be synthesized will be characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance and enantioselectivity levels determined by chiral HPLC.

WorkPlace: The work will be performed at LAQV-REQUIMTE from the Chemistry Department of the University of Aveiro, under the scientific supervision of Dr. Nuno Candeias.
Duration: The fellowship is expected to start in march 2024 with a duration of 9 months, renewable up to the duration of the project.
Monthly maintenance allowance: The monthly allowance is € 1104.64, according to the table of monthly maintenance allowances described in anexo I from Regulamento n.º 950/2019 (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ).
Selection Methods: Curricula evaluation (50 %), and suitability of the curricula to the project (50%).
Selection Committee: Dr. Nuno R. Candeias, Dr. Jaime Coelho and Prof. Amparo Faustino, Prof. Augusto Tomé (1st substitute member) and Prof. Vera Silva (2nd substitute member).
Form of disclosure/notification of results: The final evaluation will be communicated by e-mail to all the candidates.
Deadline and rules for submission of applications: The call is open from 22nd January until 2nd February 2024.
