1. Tender open for the award of one Scholarship for MA students (Bolsa de Investigação).

This grant is funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology, under R&D project “PORT ASIA – Escrever a Ásia em Português: mapeando arquivos literários e intelectuais em Lisboa e Macau (1820-1955)” (EXPL/LLT-LES/1191/2021), of Center for Comparative Studies, from School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon.

2. The scholarship will be awarded for 6 months, with no renewal during the eligibility of the project.

3. The scholarship will be supervised by Doctor Duarte Drumond Braga.

4. A list of printed sources, typescripts and some manuscripts is being gathered by the research team in 5 libraries in Lisbon and Macao, so as to identify books and documents (from 1820 to 1955) in Portuguese by Asian authors. This process is expected to be nearly complete by the time the grantee starts his/her work, which will result in the production of a printed catalogue gathering the information collected by the team. Such catalogue is expected to disclose the existence of materials and authors that can be constitute a new corpus for further study and analysis.

The main task of the grant holder is therefore to help create and organize a catalogue as a coherent collection of references, according to criteria defined by the team and the PI. The catalogue aims to create a corpus of bibliographical and documental information, in order to disseminate the main results of our work. This task will take place at the premises of the Centre for Comparative Studies of FLUL.

This task will be divided into 3 phases: 1. The research team and the PI will send the list of the gathered materials to the grant holder; 2. The grant holder will be responsible for data revision and organization in regular work sessions under the supervision of the PI. At this stage the grant holder may have to go to the libraries and archives where research was previously conducted in Lisbon to confirm data. 3. Production of the draft of the entire catalogue. This process will be supervised by the PI.

The grant holder will also assist in writing/revising the introductory study for the catalogue and is expected to help with text transcriptions/digitalizations.
