1. Tender open for the award of 5 Scholarship for MA students (Bolsa de Iniciação à Investigação).
This grant is funded by Portuguese national funds through Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, under special support “Verão com Ciência”, of Centre for Archaeology of the University of Lisbon (UNIARQ), from School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon.
2. Each scholarship will be awarded for one month.
3. The scholarship will be supervised by researchers from the Centre for Archaeology of the University of Lisbon.
4. During the period of 1 month, the grantees, will be integrated in one of the ongoing projects at UNIARQ and supervised by a Principal Investigator, they must carry out a diversified set of activities that define archaeological science, taking responsibility in the execution of tasks and accompanying the processes of problem definition, choice of work methodologies and selection of dissemination mechanisms.
These activities may take place within the framework of archaeological excavations, where the grantee will actively participate in the tasks of:
- excavation, identification and recording of stratigraphic units;
- collecting, conditioning and recording archaeological materials;
- collection, conditioning, recording of samples for laboratory analysis;
- graphic and photographic recording of the works, using the new digital technologies;
- organization and dynamization of Open Days, actions of dissemination - physical or digital - of the works.
These activities may take place in the laboratory, where the grant holder will actively participate in the tasks of:
- washing, marking, inventory, conditioning of archaeological material;
- integration in data bases of archaeological material;
- drawing and photography, photogrammetry of archaeological materials;
- organization of archaeological deposit;

- document proving enrolment in the required program (if applicant is already enrolled).
The application and all documents associated with must be written in either Portuguese or English.
No required application document may be submitted after the deadline.
For application purposes, diplomas, certificates and transcripts need not be submitted. In lieu, a statement of compliance is required. Official transcripts must be submitted prior to the signing of the contract.
Fellowships applicants must show that they meet the necessary conditions to enrol in the program leading to the attainment of the requested academic degree. Proof of acceptance will be required prior to the signing of the contract.
