Each candidate may submit only one application under penalty of cancellation of all submitted applications.

False statements or plagiarism on the part of the candidates will be grounds for the cancellation of the application without prejudice to the adoption of other sanctionary measures.

TYPE AND DURATION OF SCHOLARSHIPS

Doctoral research scholarships are intended to fund research activities leading to a doctoral degree in Portuguese universities.

The research activities leading to the doctoral degree will take place at the NECE R&D Unit, which will be the host institution for the fellows, although the work may be carried out in collaboration with more than one institution.

The research activities leading to the doctoral degree of the selected fellows must be framed in the activities and strategic plan of NECE and must be developed within the scope of the following PhD Programs: PhD in Management at the Universidade da Beira Interior, PhD in Economics at the Universidade da Beira Interior and the Universidade de Évora, and PhD in Marketing and Strategy at the Universities of Minho, Aveiro and Beira Interior.

The work plan may occur entirely or partially in a national institution (in-country scholarship or mixed scholarship, respectively).

The duration of the scholarships is, as a rule, one year, renewable for up to a maximum of four years (48 months), and no scholarship may be awarded for less than three consecutive months.

In mixed scholarships, the period of the work plan that takes place in a foreign institution cannot exceed 24 months.

SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

Doctoral Research Scholarships are intended for candidates enrolled or candidates who meet the conditions to enrol in one of the Doctoral Programs listed in point 2 of this Notice and who intend to develop research activities leading to a doctoral degree at NECE - Research Unit for Business Sciences, (UID/04630), or at associated host institutions.

The renewal of the scholarship always depends on the request presented by the scholarship holder, within the 60 working days before the renewal start date, accompanied by the following documents:

  • opinions issued by the advisor/s and host entity/s on the monitoring of the fellow's work and the assessment of his/her activities.
  • up-to-date document proving compliance with the regime of exclusive dedication.
  • document proving renewal of enrolment in the study cycle leading to a doctoral degree                                                 
  • WORK PLANS AND SCIENTIFIC SUPERVISION OF SCHOLARSHIPS HOLDERS

    The main responsibilities of the fellow include research and management activities that contribute to the development and dissemination of knowledge and enhance the cooperation and national and international prestige of the Research Unit. These include, among others, the collaboration with the coordination of the Research Unit in the preparation of literature reviews, the execution of empirical components, such as the acquisition, management, transformation, analysis and curation of data collected through quantitative and/or qualitative methods, the writing of reports and scientific articles, the dissemination of research results, the management of contacts with other units and research teams, as well as the collaboration in the organization and management of scientific events.

    Also included are activities related to research projects, such as searching for opportunities; elaboration of project applications; ensuring support in the preparation of project applications for external funding; creation and implementation of projects in the research, development and assessment components, including the administrative aspects; support and follow-up of all administrative and financial aspects of project applications for external funding; execution of co-funded projects, from the application stage, through monitoring and implementation of activities, including support in team management, organization of dossiers, preparation of the final report (technical and financial) and presentation of results; monitoring the contractualisation of funding awarded to projects and their implementation in the administrative and financial components; support in the preparation of scientific articles, publications and public presentations of projects and results.

    The management activities of the R&D Project include administrative tasks; resolution of daily management problems of NECE; management of NECE communication; administrative support to NECE coordination; preparation, presentation and dissemination of Project results or other management tasks.

    The NECE Coordinator must previously approve any publications arising from the Project.
