Offer Description

Work Plan:

The Ortho-Monitorizer project enables continuous monitoring of pressure points and temperature during the use of orthoses. The main objective is to develop and test orthoses built using 3D printing technology, incorporating pressure and temperature sensors. Through the data obtained from these sensors, it will be possible to verify if and when patients are using the orthosis and whether it is applying excessive pressure. In particular, the following goals are intended to be pursued: 1. Conduct tests of the Ortho-Monitorizer system in a laboratory setting with individuals without associated pathology. 2. Perform tests of the Ortho-Monitorizer system at Hospital Curry Cabral with patients suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome and De Quervain's tenosynovitis, which will be compared with normative data, allowing usability testing. 3. Develop improvement actions in the Ortho-Monitorizer system, particularly in the software platform and in the instrumentation and modeling component of the orthosis. 4. Document and report all technical and scientific aspects with the writing of at least one scientific article.

Workplace:

The work will be carried out at the Biomedical Engineering Laboratory - LIBPhys (at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of Nova University of Lisbon), under the scientific guidance of Professor Dr. Claúdia Quaresma, Professor Dr. Carla Quintão, and Professor Dr. Bruno Soares, with NOVA.id.FCT - Association for Innovation and Development of FCT being the contracting entity.
