A tender is open for the attribution of one Scholarship(s) (Research Scholarship- BI Licenciado) within the scope of the R&D project/institution “BioMIPs-Desenvolvimento de anticorpos plásticos para reconhecimento de bio-moléculas utilizando uma estratégia verde”, LAQV-REQUIMTE, NOVA SST (PTDC/EQUEQU/32473/2017), funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P. /MCTES through national funding (PIDDAC), under the following following conditions:

  • Scientific Area: Chemistry, chemical engineering.
  • Recipients profile/category:
  • Mandatory requirements:

    3 years- degree in Chemical Engineering or related areas. The candidates must have concluded the 3 years-old degree, accomplished at less then 3 years at submission date. The candidate must be enrolled in a cycle of studies such as a master or in a course that do not lead to an academic degree.

    Preferred factors: Knowledge of the English language.

  • Work Plan:
  • The Fellow will develop new polymeric materials for bio-purification devices using supercritical technology. Its activity will include the synthesis and functionalization of materials and their characterization, as well as the development of a prototype.

  • Applicable legislation and regulations::
  • Law No. 40/2004, of August 18, amended and republished by Decree-Law No. 202/2012 of August 27 (Statute of the Scientific Research Fellow) and amended by Decree-Law No. 233/2012 of October 29, by Law No. 12 /2013 of 29 January, by Decree-Law No. 89/2013, of 9 July and Decree-Law No. 123/2019, of 28 August; Regulation of Research Grants of NOVA.id.FCT – Association for Innovation and Development of FCT; Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. in force (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml.pt );

  • Workplace:
  • The work will be carried out at the Associate Laboratory for Green Chemistry (LAQV-REQUIMTE), in the Department of Chemistry at the School of Science and Technology of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa under the scientific guidance of Professor Teresa Casimiro, with NOVA.id being the contracting entity .FCT – FCT's Association for Innovation and Development.

  • Fellowship duration:
  • The fellowship will last for 3 months, starting in October 2021. The fellowship contract may eventually be renewed within the term of the project.

  • Monthly maintenance allowance amount:
  • The amount of the scholarship corresponds to €835.98 having as reference the table of values of the scholarships awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in the country, with payment made monthly by bank transfer.

  • Selection criteria:
  • The selection of the Scholarship Holder to be hired will be carried out through the evaluation of their scientific and curricular path, pursuant to DL nº 57/2016 of July 19, in the wording of Law nº 57/2017 of August 29, the following being the selection criteria and their respective weighting:

    a) Curriculum assessment (50%)

    b) Motivation letter (10%)

    d) Interview (40%). The interview will only be carried out to candidates whose classification is higher than 50% in the evaluation of the first two criteria.

    The candidate's proactivity, previous work, graduation notes, command of the English language, etc., will be evaluated.

  • Composition of the Selection Jury:
  • The evaluation of the applications will be carried out by a jury and will follow the procedure provided for in articles 13 and 14 applicable by reference to article 19 all of DL nº 57/2016 of 19 July, in the wording of Law nº 57/2017 of 29 August.

    Pursuant to the provisions of Article 13 of DL nº 57/2016, the jury has the following composition:

    - President: Teresa Casimiro, PhD;

    - Member: Raquel Viveiros, PhD;

    - Member: Ana Nunes, PhD;

    - Substitute member: Maria Manuel Marques, PhD;

    - Substitute member: Ana Aguiar-Ricardo, PhD.

  • Form of advertising/notification of results:
  • The evaluation results proposed by the juri will be notified, up to 90 days after the deadline for the submission of applications, by email, of the results proposed by the jury, with access to the minutes and the final ranking list.

    After notification, candidates will have 10 working days to comment on the draft decision (prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms of the Code of Administrative Procedure). The final decision will be taken after the expiry of the prior hearing period, again notified to all candidates by e-mail. Of this final decision the candidates can file a complaint within 15 working days (to the e-mail address used for the notification), or an hierarchical appeal, within 30 working days, addressed to NOVA.ID.FCT's Board through the address coord1@novaidfct.pt .

  • Application deadline and form of application submission:
  • The competition is open from the 22th to the 07th of October 2021.

    Documentation to be provided in the application: Applications must be formalized, obligatorily, by sending the following documents: Letter of motivation, Curriculum Vitae, certificate of qualifications and other supporting documents considered relevant, including proof of enrollment in the current academic year or degree registration; this detail must be consistent with what is specified in point 2 of the Notice).

    Form of submission of applications: Applications must be submitted by email to teresa.casimiro@fct.unl.pt , in a single PDF file containing all the documents. The subject of the email should be: “BI Lic PTDC /EQU-EQU/32473/2017".

    Documentation to be provided in the context of contracting: Proof of enrollment in courses that do not lead to an academic degree or in a cycle of studies such as a master's/integrated master's degree.

  • Drafts:
  • The drafts of: i) fellowship contract, ii) final report to be presented by the fellowship holder, iii) final report to be presented by the scientific advisor, and; iv) declaration on honor, can all be found on NOVA.id.FCT website.
