Offer Description

Competition is open for the award of a Research Scholarship (BI) within the scope of the project 'SustainableTrout - Promoção, Valorização e Sustentabilidade da Truta de Boticas' funded by 'la Caixa Foundation' through the Promove Program (2023 Contest - Innovative Pilot Projects), in the scientific field: Nutrition, Food and related areas.

 

The present plan has the following main tasks:

1) Nutritional, chemical, and bioactive characterization of trout and the by-products of its processing;

2) Development of differentiated food products based on trout;

3) Reutilization of the residues from trout processing to obtain other value-added products;

4) Development of marketing and commercialization strategies for the developed food products;

5) Data organization and preparation of reports and scientific articles.

 

The main objective will be the development of innovative food products based on Trout, following the characterization of its nutritional and bioactive value.

 

The work will be carried out at CIMO - IPB, under the scientific supervision of Maria Inês Dias and Carla Pereira.

 

The scholarship will initially last for 12 months, starting on 02/05/2024 (with the possibility of renewal for up to a maximum of 24 months, including the initial period)

3) Proficiency in the English language (written and oral communication) will also be considered an asset.

Benefits

The scholarship amount corresponds to 990,98 euros, according to the table of scholarships awarded by the FCT, I.P. in the country.

The scholarship holder will benefit from a personal accident insurance and, if not covered by any social protection scheme, can ensure the exercise of the right to social security by joining the voluntary social insurance scheme, pursuant to the Code of Contribution Regimes of the Social Security Social Security System. The scholarship amount will be paid monthly by bank transfer.

Eligibility criteria

Student enrolled in a Master's Program in Food Quality and Safety or related fields.

Selection process

The selection methods to be used will be as follows:

a) Curriculum evaluation and its suitability for the job in question (60%);

b) Knowledge/experience in nutritional characterization and development of new food products (30%);

c) Experience in marketing strategies and menu and packaging design (10%).

 

The communications and the final results of the evaluation will be disclosed by email notification to the candidates.

If the decision to be taken is unfavorable to the granting of the requested scholarship, the candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the date of publication of the evaluation results, to express their opinion, if desired, in a prior hearing, under the terms provided for in the Code of the Administrative Procedure.

An appeal may be filed against the final decision to the President of the IPB within 15 working days after the respective notification.

Additional comments

Documents proving the ownership of academic degrees or diplomas, or enrollment in an academic degree or diploma, may be dispensed with during the application stage, being replaced by a declaration of honor by the candidate, and verification of this condition is mandatory during the grant contracting stage.

Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries require recognition by a Portuguese Institution in accordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16th and Ordinance No. 33/2019, of January 25th. The presentation of recognition is mandatory for the signing of the contract.
