Offer Description

A call for applications is open for a Research Grant (BI) within the scope of the "POCTEP - 0137_NSL_6_E: NSL (Novas Sociedades Longevas) project and Interreg VI-A Spain - Portugal Cooperation Program (POCTEP) 2021-2027 funding, in the scientific areas of Physical Activity and Health, Sport and Health, Rehabilitation Nursing or Exercise and Health.

This grant is intended for individuals with a Master's degree in the following areas are eligible to apply: Physical Activity and Health, Sport and Health, Rehabilitation Nursing; Exercise and Health.
Applicants must be enrolled in a doctoral program or a non-degree program integrated into the educational project of a higher education institution.
A degree in an area related to Physical Activity and Health is required.

 

The grant will have a duration of 3 months with possibility of renewal up to 24 months.
The tender is open in the period between 10/04/2024 and 23/04/2024

The main tasks to be developed by the fellow will consist in the:

(1) characterizing the study participants;

(2) assessing physical activity;

(3) preparing and managing the database and its statistical analysis;

(4) writing scientific articles.

The main grant goals are:

a) Define the study sample;
b) Organize the data collection instrument on physical activity;
c) Arrange with local authorities to publicize the collection in the community;
d) Apply the data collection instrument;
e) Building the database;
f) Analyze the data collected;
g) Draw up scientific articles.

The fellow will benefit from a grant of 1.259,64€ as per the table of remuneration of FCT,I.P..
The fellow will also benefit from personal accident insurance, and if not included in any social security protocol, may adhere to the Portuguese Social Security through the Seguro Social Voluntário (Voluntary Social Security), in the terms present in the Portuguese Código dos Regimes Contributivos do Sistema Previdencial de Segurança Social. The monthly grant will be paid by banktransfer.

The scholarship holder will participate in the characterisation of the study participants, the application of the Data Collection Instrument and the statistical processing of the data, the preparation and management of a database and its statistical analysis, as well as the writing of scientific articles

The following factors will be preferred when assessing candidates: Experience in physical activity assessment; Solid knowledge of quantitative methodologies in database management and statistical analysis (SPSS and Excel); Publications in international journals with scientific arbitration and communications at congresses in the scientific field covered by this call for applications; Proficiency in English (written and oral).

Academic qualification in the field of Physical Activity and Health.
 


Specific Requirements

The specific requirements for candidates are: Experience in physical activity assessment; Solid knowledge of quantitative methodologies in the process of database management and statistical data analysis (SPSS and Excel); Publications in international journals with scientific arbitration and communications at congresses in the scientific area of this call; Proficiency in English (written and oral).
The candidate should have minimum linguistic skills in Portuguese and Spanish, as this will be the area where the project will be carried out, since it will be necessary to collect information from the community. 
The candidate should have a good knowledge in English, with special emphasis on technical and scientific terminology for the dissemination of the project's results

Selection process

The final classification will be awarded on a scale of 0 to 20 and will correspond to the sum of the Curricular assessment (CA) criteria described above and the interview (I). The final grade will be rounded up to the nearest tenth.

The final classification will be obtained by the following formula: 0.7 x AC + 0.3 x I, on a scale of 0 to 20.

The jury will be composed by Doctor Hélder Jaime Fernandes (President of the Jury), Doctor Adília Maria Pires da Silva Fernandes and Doctor António Miguel Barros Monteiro.

The communications and the final results of the evaluation will be disclosed by email notification to the candidates.

If the decision to be taken is unfavorable to the granting of the requested scholarship, the candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the date of publication of the evaluation results, to express their opinion, if desired, in a prior hearing, under the terms provided for in the Code of the Administrative Procedure.

An appeal may be filed against the final decision to the President of the IPB within 15 working days after the respective notification.

 


Additional comments

Documents proving the ownership of academic degrees or diplomas, or enrollment in an academicdegree or diploma, may be dispensed with during the application stage, being replaced by adeclaration of honor by the candidate, although substantiation of this condition is mandatory duringthe grant contracting stage.
Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries require recognition by a Portuguese Institution inaccordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16th and Ordinance No. 33/2019, of January 25th. The presentation of the recognition is mandatory for the signing of the contract.
