A call for applications is open for a research grant in the field of communication for a graduate student, funded by the programme budget of the Centre for Geographical Studies (UIDP/00295/2020).

Admission requirements
This competition is open to graduates in Communication Sciences, Communication Design, or related areas, who are enrolled in Master's programmes at Higher Education Institutions.
The successful candidate must have the following requirements:
- A degree in Communication Sciences, Advertising and Marketing, Communication Design, Audiovisual and Multimedia, Business Communication, or related areas;
- Be enrolled in a Master's programme at a higher education institution;
- Good knowledge of Portuguese and English.
Other requirements (preferred):
- Knowledge of social media management;
- Knowledge of producing and editing multimedia content;
- Knowledge of graphic design and/or multimedia software (Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud);
- Knowledge of news writing, science dissemination (scientific articles/events) and/or press relations.
Eligibility of candidates
Applicants must meet the eligibility conditions set out in article 9 of the FCT I.P. Research Grant Regulations (Regulation no. 950/2019, published in Diário da República, 2nd series, no. 241 on 16 December).

Work plan
The work to be carried out aims to contribute to the dissemination of the activities of IGOT-ULisboa and the Centre for Geographical Studies, in its teaching and scientific production components, increasing the notoriety and recognition of the two entities among their target audiences.
1. Participate in the design of a new communication strategy, proposing specific measures and actions;
2. Participating in the dynamisation of communication channels, namely digital;
3. Supporting the production and editing of multimedia content;
4. Collaborating in publicising CEG/IGOT's scientific areas;
5. Supporting the organisation of events.

Benefits
Duration of the scholarship
The scholarship will last for 6 months and may be renewed. The scholarship is scheduled to start in February 2024.
Monthly maintenance allowance
The amount of the grant corresponds to 930.98 € according to the table of values of grants awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in the country (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ).

Selection methods
The applicable selection method will be curricular assessment of the candidates.
Assessment parameters: The curricular assessment (CA) comprises the following parameters:
- Curriculum Vitae (60%);
- Motivation and aptitude for the task (20%);
- Professional experience in the field (20%).
The jury may, if it deems it necessary, call the candidates placed in the top five positions for an interview, in which case the interview will have a weight of 30 per cent to be added to the score obtained in the first selection phase, which will have a weight of 70 per cent. The interview will take place on a date and at a time to be communicated to the candidates in due course.
The jury may not award a grant if the candidates do not match the desired profile.
Selection process
How the results will be publicised/notified
The final results of the assessment will be communicated to the candidates by means of a notification sent to the email address indicated for this purpose.
If the result is unfavourable to the award of the grant requested, the candidates have a period of 10 working days to express their opinion, if they wish, at a prior hearing for interested parties, under the terms of articles 121 and 122 of the Code of Administrative Procedure (Decree-Law no. 4/2015 of 7 January and its amendments).
The selected candidate must express their intention to accept the scholarship in writing. In the event of non-acceptance, the grant will be awarded to the candidate in order of final ranking.

The competition is open from 19 January to 1 February 2024.

c) Certificate of qualification
With regard to the qualification certificate, if the degree was obtained at a foreign institution, it must be recognised by a Portuguese institution in accordance with Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of August 16 and Ministerial Order no. 33/2019, of January 25, as amended on the date of application);
d) In the case of foreign citizens, a document proving residence in Portugal, namely a residence permit or other legally equivalent document;
e) Proof of enrolment in a Master's programme;
f) Portfolio (optional);
g) Other supporting documents deemed relevant;
h) Declaration of prior consent to communication by electronic means.
The reference to the competition Ref.ª Comunicação_2024 must be indicated in the subject of the application e-mail.

2nd alternate member: Master Fernando Benedito, Coordinator of the Scientific Research Support Unit at IGOT-ULisboa.
