A tender is hereby open for the award of 1 Research Grant (RG) for university masters, within the scope of the R&D project “Sustainable Supply Chain Management Model for Residual Agro-forestry Biomass supported in a Web Platform”, PCIF/GVB/0083/2019, under the following conditions:

1. Scientific Area: Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, other similar areas.

2. Funding Source: Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P./MCTES, through national founds (PIDDAC).

Students enrolled in a Ph.D. program in a Portuguese university preferably with a master’s degree in the scientific areas above mentioned, with a final mark equal to or above 14 points (on a 0-20 scale). The candidate should have good knowledge of Supply Chain Management, Simulation, and Programming, as well as good written and oral skills in the English language. Experience with the use of simulators will be valued.

If the qualification has been attributed by a foreign higher education institution it must be recognized by a Portuguese higher education institution, under the terms of the provisions of article 25 of Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of 16 August, which approves the juridical regime of recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of Higher Education, attributed by foreign higher education institutions, and of paragraph e) of no. 2 of article 4 of Decree-Law no. 60/2018, of 3 August, and any formalities established therein must be fulfilled by the date of the hiring act.

4. Eligibility: Applicants are eligible if they comply with paragraph a) of no.1 of article 2, of the Research Fellow Statute as amended by Decree-Law no. 123/2019, of August 28th, as well as nos. 1 and 2 of article 6 of the Research Grant Regulations of the Foundation for Science and Technology . Regulations.

5. Work Plan: The grant holder is expected to: i) collect, systematize and analyze scientific literature (systematic literature review) about simulation models and optimization techniques applied to the modelling/analysis of supply chain management, in particular, in the agroforestry biomass chain; ii) develop simulation models (in a specific simulator such as Arena or Anylogic) for decision support in the evaluation of operations strategies and tactics, to be integrated with optimization models under development in the project; iii) collaborate in the writing of academic papers and publications (in English), and participate in the project meetings and in the preparation of project reports, as well as in actions to disseminate the project.

6. Applicable legislation and regulations: Statute of Scientific Research Grant Holder, as amended by Decree-Law No. 123/2019, of August 28th ; Regulation n. º 950/2019, of November 29th , published in Diário da República No. 241, Series II, of December 16th (FCT, I.P. Research Grants Regulation); Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16th (Legal regime for recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of higher education awarded by foreign higher education institutions).

7. Workplace: The work will be carried out at the Department of Economics, Management, Industrial Engineering and Tourism of the University of Aveiro, under the scientific supervision of Professor Ana Luísa Ferreira Andrade Ramos from the Department of Economics, Management, Industrial Engineering and Tourism of the University of Aveiro.

8. The grant duration will be 12 months, starting in October of 2022, and may be renewed for additional periods of 6 months, up to the maximum limit of approved funding. Under no circumstances shall it exceed the limits defined in nos. 3 and 4 of Article 6, of Regulation No. 950/2019, of November 29th , published in Diário da República, No. 241, Series II, of December 16th (Research Grants Regulations of FCT, I.P.).

9. The amount of the grant corresponds to €1.144,64, according to the table of the monthly maintenance allowance amounts set out in Annex I of Regulation n. º 950/2019, subject to any updates that may be applicable, under the terms of no. 2 of article 18 of Regulation no. 950/2019, of November 29th , published in Diário da República, no. 241, Series II, of December 16th (Research Grant Regulations of FCT, I.P.). The fellow holder may also be reimbursed for the amount corresponding to the Voluntary Social Security, in case of adherence to this plan.

: The selection methods to be used will be the following (and their respective valuation):

Curriculum Evaluation (CE), in which the relevance of the Curriculum Vitae and knowledge in the topics related to the work plan will be evaluated. This component of the evaluation will be expressed on a numerical scale from 0 to 100 points. It can also be employed an interview (I) in case the jury does not consider itself duly qualified to decide, depending on the application of the Curriculum Evaluation. In this case, the three candidates with the best classification in the Curriculum Evaluation shall proceed to the interview phase. This component of the evaluation, expressed in a 0 to 100 points scale, will aim to obtain curricular elements and additional information, such as a justification of the candidate's motivation for this application and of the adequacy of his/her profile to the scholarship in competition, as well as elements that allow the evaluation of his/her profile in terms of attitudes, knowledge, and skills.

Being used the selection methods previously mentioned, the final classification will be calculated by applying the following formula, on a scale of 0 to 100 points:

Final Classification = CE or Final Classification = 0.7*CE + 0.3*I.

The jury reserves the right to exclude candidates who do not reach the minimum final classification of 50 points out of 100 and may decide not to award the scholarship if the candidates' curricula are not in line with the required qualifications.

11. Composition of the Selection Jury: Chair of the Selection Jury: Doctor Ana Luísa Ferreira Andrade Ramos (DEGEIT / UA); Permanent members: Doctor Carina Maria Oliveira Pimentel (DEGEIT / UA) and Doctor Leonor da Conceição Teixeira (DEGEIT / UA); Alternate members: Doctor João Carlos de Oliveira Matias (DEGEIT / UA) and Doctor Marta Alexandra da Costa Ferreira Dias (DEGEIT / UA).

: The call is open from 11 July 2022 to 22 July 2022, and only applications submitted within the deadline will be admitted. Applications must be formalized by sending a letter of application accompanied by the following documents: (a) Curriculum Vitae, (b) copy of ID document or Passport, (c) copy of the certificates proving academic degrees, duly certified by a competent entity, (d) motivation letter, and (e) other supporting documents, considered relevant, of the academic and/or professional experience. The candidate should also indicate the e-mail address to which, by that indication, he/she accepts to be notified for all purposes within this procedure. Applicants must ensure that they receive an e-mail replying to their application, confirming receipt of the same.

13. Form of publication/notification of results: The final results of the evaluation will be published within 90 working days after the final date of submission of the application, and the successful candidate will be notified by email. For the purposes of prior hearing of interested parties, the deadline of 10 working days is set, as provided for in the Code of Administrative Procedure. At the end of the period for hearing the interested parties, and in the absence of any response from them, the list of candidates will become final. Candidates may lodge a complaint against the final decision within 15 working days, or appeal to the maximum executive body of the funding entity within 30 working days after notification of the final decision, in accordance with the provisions of article 12 of the Research Grants Regulation of the Foundation for Science and Technology.

14. Tender duration: The final ranking list of candidates will be valid until December 30, 2022, for the purpose of constituting a selection reserve list.
