1. Object and Scope 

 

Job description

COFAC, Cooperativa de  Formação e Animação Cultural crl/ Universidade Lusófona, hereby opens a call to recruit a Ph.D. researcher, corresponding to position 33 of the Single Remuneration Table, under the terms of the applicable legislation, with an Open-Ended Employment Contract, within the scope of contract program between Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P.(FCT), and the Cooperative mentioned above, supported by national funds inscribed in the budget of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) – and carried out at the Research Unit Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Education and Development – CeiED, Universidade Lusófona.

1.1. Main Duties

 The work to be carried out fulfills the performance of the following research functions:

  • Bibliographic survey and creation of a database on Afro-descent, raciallity, colonial, post-colonial and decolonial processes;
  • Communication with various institutions - establishment of contacts with museums, schools, ONG´s and other interlocutors;
  • organization of teamwork and conditions of access to information;
  • Fieldwork, contact with focus groups and organization of basic documentation of the project;
  • Transcription, coding and analysis of interviews;
  • Development of materials for dissemination and publication;
  • Maintenance and updating of website content dedicated to the project;
  • Preparation of reports, scripts, materials relevant to the project and other scientific productions resulting from the project;
  • Design of workshops with the institutions involved in the project;
  • Organization of scientific events, seminars, conferences;
  • Planning and execution of artistic events and exhibitions;
  • Information support and support to editorial, museography, graphic and other work teams.

    1.2. Contractual terms: 

  • The position of the Ph.D. researcher is made effective using an open-ended employment contract, whose FCT funding for a period of 15 months, when the project ends.
  • The tasks to be carried out in the fulfilment of this position are those considered in the scope of the project “Corpos Geradores: da agressão à insurgência. Contributos para uma pedagogia decolonial (AGRRIN)”, (2022.06269.PTDC), funded by the Foundation of Science and Technology, I.P. (FCT) through national funds ;
  • The contract to be made is scheduled to begin on March 1st , 2024, and finish, predictably, on June, 30th 2025, with the conclusion of the research project, preserving the term regime established by the Labour Code; 
  • The tasks comprehended in the object of the employment contract take place in the facilities of Campo Grande 376, in Lisbon;
  • The gross base monthly salary to be paid is 2228,11 Euros according to paragraph 1 of article 2 of Regulatory Decree nº 11-A/2017, of 29 December, corresponding to the remuneration level 33 of the Single Remuneration Table, with the update of 1% approved by Decree-Law nº 26-B/2023.
  • The fulfilment of this job position has as feasibility the presential work, not being possible to perform it by a hybrid model. 
  • 2.  Eligibility and Applications 

    2.1. Position to be filled and terms of open call: 

  • The call aims to hire a Ph.D. researcher, with an open-ended employment contract under private law, according to article 6 of decree Law nº 57/2016, 29 August; 
  • National, foreign or stateless Ph.D. researchers may apply to the position. 
  • 2.2. Cumulatively, the candidate should have the following academic profile: 

  • Adequate background in the fields of Museology and/or Human and Social Sciences;
  • Ph.D. degree for under 5 years and track in one of the scientific fields of the previous line;
  • Experience in scientific research activities, namely, in the area of Museology, heritage Studies and Sociomuseal Education; 
  • Experience in project management, group management in the implementation of participatory methodologies and co-creation, team coordination, coordination of institutional correspondence processes, organization of scientific, artistic and museological events, academic writing, presentation at academic events, conducting and transcription of interviews, production of reports, and expographic design.
  • Be fluent in Portuguese, written and spoken;
  • Be fluent in English, written and spoken. 
  • Experience in local development, web design, and graphic design activities will be valued.
  •  3. In the case of academic degrees awarded by foreign higher education institutions, under the terms of Decree-Law n.º 66/2018 of August 16, and so as to ensure the application of the principle of equal treatment to candidates holding foreign and national academic degrees, it is mandatory to obtain the recognition of said degrees and the conversion of their respective final score to the Portuguese rating scale. The recognition of foreign academic degrees and diplomas as well as the conversion of the final score to the Portuguese rating scale, should be available by the deadline for submission of applications. The recognition of foreign academic degrees and diplomas as well as the conversion of the final score to the Portuguese rating scale may be required in any public higher education institution or at the General Directorate for Higher Education (DGES, only in the case of automatic recognition).         4. Jurisdiction and opening of insolvency proceedings

  • Publication of the procedure observes that established by article 11 of Decree-Law no. 57/2016, of August 29, amended by Law nº 57/2017, of 19 July.

    5 -Deadline

    The call is open from January 19th, 2024 until 5 pm (Lisbon time) of February 19th, 2024.

     

    6 -How to apply 

    6.1. Applicants to this call will address their application by email, in a PDF format, to the following email address: [email protected] with the subject: Phd_Junior/2022.06269.PTDC_AGRRIN along with the following documents: 

    a) Cover letter mentioning the motivations which justified the application, written in English; 

    b) Curriculum vitae referring the professional experience, accompanied by a list of the scientific publications;

    c) Ph.D. certificate, in th fields of Museology, Human and Social Sciences;

    d) Letter of recommendation and personal data and contact information with their respective email addresses – of at least two leading academics who can attest the curriculum submitted; 

    e) Other documents considered relevant by the applicant and which, from candidate´s perspective, are pertinent to attest and assess the scientific and professional history. 

    6.2. Excluding the elements mentioned in paragraph e), failure to comply with any of the requirements listed in the previous number will determine the immediate rejection of the application.

    6.3. False declarations given by the applicants will be punished according to the law. 

     

    7 Jury 

    7.1. Jury Composition 

    The Jury has three members nominated by COFAC, crl Board. In accordance with the article 13 of Decree-Law nº 57/2016, of 29 August, the following members were appointed: 

  • Chairwoman –Judite Primo (Integrated Researcher of CeiED and Scientific Coordinator of the Project);
  • Mário Caneva Moutinho - (Integrated Researcher of CeiED and President of the Superior Academic Council of the Lusófona University); 
  • Inês Vieira - (Integrated Researcher and Director of the CeiED Public Science Forum);
  • 7.2 - Competences 

    a) The jury will evaluate the applications. 

    b) Minutes shall be taken for each jury meeting, including the issues discussed and the votes by each member, and the grounds for the decisions made. 

     

    8 - Selection method

    8.1. The applications admitted to the competition will be assessed considering the quality, compliance with deadlines, and relevance of the scientific curriculum and research experience appropriate to the objectives of the project's proposed work plan. 

    8.2. In the selection process, the jury will assess the set of elements listed below on a scale of 0 to 20: 

  • The professional experience of the candidate, carried out in areas related to the work plan object of the competition (up to 75% of the evaluation of this phase);
  • Motivation letter (15% of the evaluation), to evaluate the motivation and interest of the candidate for the activities to be carried out and their articulation with the objectives of the project;
  • Letter of recommendation and/or declarations of participation that prove the experience in projects and activities related to the areas present in the notice (10% of the evaluation);
  • If the jury chooses to interview the candidates, which is intended exclusively for the clarification of aspects related to the results of their research (corresponding to a maximum of 10% of the total evaluation), up to 5 candidates of those who obtained the highest classification will be considered - in any case, only evaluations higher than 60% will be considered;
  • Should it be deemed necessary, the jury can ask the testimony of the leading academics mentioned in article 6, n. 6.1, paragraph d). 
  •    8.3. In the event of a tie, the final decision will be the responsibility of the jury’s chairwoman. 

       8.4. After the selection stages have been concluded, the jury will draw up, within no more than 7 workdays, a minute which will include the final decision, a ranking of the admitted applicants with their respective final scores, as well as a brief description of the recruitment process, assessment, and selection. 

     

    9. Prior Hearing 

    The jury's final deliberation, referred to in paragraph 8.4 of the previous number, is communicated to the interested parties so that, in the exercise of the right of prior hearing provided for by the Administrative Procedure Code, they can, within 10 working days, pronounce themselves. 

     

    10- Homologation 

    When the deadline for the exercise of the right of prior hearing has expired, the jury’s final decision is certified by the Chairperson of the Executive Committee of COFAC, crl., which is also responsible for deciding on the hiring of the selected applicant. 

     

    11 - Dissemination of results 

    The list of admitted and rejected applicants, as well as their respective final scores, will be displayed in the facilities of Universidade Lusófona, at Avenida do Campo Grande, nº 376, in Lisbon and, moreover, they will be posted on the website www.ceied.ulusofona.pt ; the applicants will be notified by email.
