“Targeting deregulated expression of anti-apoptotic proteins belonging to the Bcl-2 family in neutrophils as a potential therapy against periodontal disease. In vitro and in vivo analysis.”

Project is carried out within the First Team programme of the Foundation for Polish Science

The aim of this project is to analyze pathological changes in neutrophils and identify the influence of virulence factors of Porphyromonas gingialis on neutrophil survival and pro-inflammatory functions and characterize its biological consequences in vitro and in vivo. Studies performed within this project will not only improve our understanding of periodontal disease, but can also facilitate identification of new therapeutic targets, constituting a foundation for testing new drug classes in the treatment in the future.
