Rector of the University of Economics in Katowice announces a competition for the position of...

The competition is open to persons who meet the requirements specified in Articles 113 and 116(2) of the Act

of 20 July 2018. Law on Higher Education and Science (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2022, item 574, as amended) and in § 90, 92 - 94 of the Statutes of the University of Economics in Katowice, and also meet the following qualification criteria:

- have at least a master's degree, master's degree in engineering or equivalent obtained in faculties within the discipline of economics and finance,

- have predisposition for research work confirmed by an opinion of a person holding the title of professor or a post-doctoral degree

- have a command of at least one modern foreign language,

- indicate the University of Economics in Katowice as the principal place of work within the meaning of the provisions of the Law on Higher Education and Science

- include a list of publications or a concept for a scientific article on issues related to the unit's scientific interests,

- have a plan for scientific development for the next two years,

- a degree in finance and accounting will be preferred,

- knowledge of English would be preferred,

- experience in conducting classes in the field of finance, especially in the field of financial markets, including the use of methods and techniques of distance learning, will be an additional asset,

- experience in teaching in the field of finance, especially in the field of financial markets, including the use of methods and techniques of distance learning.

The ability to use for teaching and scientific purposes software such as Statistica and transaction platforms used in financial markets (e.g. Meta Trader 4) will be an additional asset,

- knowledge of Microsoft Office at an advanced level, with particular emphasis on the functionality of an Excel spreadsheet, will be an asset,

- possession of publications within the discipline of economics and finance, in particular concerning financial markets, including investment in the financial market, will be an additional asset,

- a university degree within 10 years of the calendar year of the competition is an advantage.

The person employed as assistant in the Department of Banking and Financial Markets at the Faculty of Finance will be responsible for performing tasks related to: teaching students of the University of Economics in Katowice, scientific development and scientific and research activities,

including cooperation with research institutions and entities from the business environment in terms of achieving the objectives of the Department and the University, organisational activities for the Department/University and other duties assigned by superiors.

Planned date of employment: 01.09.2022.

Type of contract: fixed-term employment contract

Planned period of employment: 2 years

Gross basic salary:

assistant (full-time, basic workplace) - PLN 3,720 (in words: three thousand seven hundred and twenty)

Deadline for submitting documents: from 06.06.2022 to 20.06.2022.

After preliminary verification of the submitted offers, interviews with the selected candidates will be held from 27.06.2022 to 06.07.2022.

Settlement of the competition will take place by: 15.07.2022 r.

The University reserves the right not to settle the competition without giving any reason. The result of the competition is not tantamount to employing the candidate, but constitutes only a recommendation to the Rector. The final decision on employment is taken by the Rector.

* In the case of providing personal data in a broader scope than stipulated in Article 22¹ § 1 of the Labour Code (i.e. providing additional personal data beyond those required), the candidate should attach a clause on consent to the processing of personal data contained in the application documents for the purposes of the recruitment process.
