Postdoctoral position to study Staphylococcus aureus infection using zebrafish

A postdoctoral position funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) is available in the Department of Evolutionary Immunology at the Jagiellonian University, Faculty of Biology. The Post-doc will join a newly forming group led by Tomasz Prajsnar which uses zebrafish as a model to study infectious diseases concentrating on Staphylococcus aureus. The position is funded for 3 years.

The objective of the project is to study the contribution of reactive oxygen species and autophagy in immune cell responses during S. aureus infection. Using the transparent zebrafish larvae together with high resolution intravital microscopy, the post-doc will dissect the mechanisms governing intracellular infection by staphylococci. In addition, the post will involve the assistance in supervising a PhD student and MSc students associated with the project as well as the data analysis and preparation of manuscripts.
