Phd Student, Quantum Imaging and Fluorescence Microscopy (# of pos: 2)

Updated: over 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 15 Sep 2021

Quantum Optics Lab (http://quantumoptics.fuw.edu.pl/ ) within the Faculty of Physics of the University of Warsaw seeks to fill two PhD student positions. The positions are within the “Spatiotemporal photon correlation measurements for quantum metrology and super-resolution microscopy” project, funded by the First Team program of the Foundation for Polish Science.

We seek motivated candidates with a Master’s (or equivalent) degree in physics, engineering or related disciplines who got accepted at the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences at the University of Warsaw. We require documented experience in experimental AMO physics. Experience with Python/Matlab/Labview programming and laboratory electronics will be an asset. We expect good understanding of the basic concepts of classical and quantum optics.

We offer participation in a cutting-edge research project, which aims to break the limitations of standard imaging, by measuring light correlations, rather than light intensity (see our recent publication for more details). The project is carried out in tight collaboration with the group of Professor Dan Oron from the Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel), Professor Leszek Kaczmarek and Dr Anna Beroun from the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, and Professor Ryszard Buczynski from the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw (Poland).

The position is funded for 4 months with the possibility of extension (please inquire by e-mail to learn about possibilities to obtain funding for a longer duration), with a monthly tax-free stipend of 3400 PLN (approximately 745 EUR).
