We are looking for PhD Student to join the Structural Biology Laboratory at the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdansk and Medical University of Gdansk (IFB UG & MUG), Gdansk, Poland, headed by Dr. Michal R. Szymanski. PhD Student will join our “MitoRepairosome” ERC project to investigate the mechanism of human mitochondrial DNA repair pathway (https://erc.europa.eu/news-events/magazine/erc-starting-grant-2019-examples ).

Our laboratory uses biochemical and structural methods to study macromolecular machines engaged in nucleic acid metabolism. The laboratory is located in a new Institute of Biotechnology building (https://en.biotech.ug.edu.pl/about_ifb/about_ifb ) and has an access to Core Facilities (https://biotech.ug.edu.pl/wspolpraca/aparatura_equipment ). We routinely use in-house Tecnai G2 Spirit BioTWIN transmission electron microscope for negative stain screening and 200kV Glacios cryo-TEM microscope equipped with a Falcon 3EC direct detection camera in CENT, Warsaw, for cryo screening. For high resolution data collection, the laboratory has access to Krios TEM located at the National Cryo-Electron Microscopy Centre in Cracow.
