Position in the project:               PhD student, starting from 01.10.2024

Scientific discipline:       molecular biology, genomics

Stipend amount/month : 4000-5000 PLN net; after successful application to the Doctoral School scholarship is increased to 7700 PLN net (~1500 EUR) in years 1-2 and 8700 PLN net in years 3-4

Period of stipend agreement:   36 months (with possible extensions)

Skills/Qualifications

Profile of a candidate/requirements:    :            

  • Master’s degree in biology, biotechnology or related fields (the diploma should be obtained before September 2024).
  • At least 1 year of research experience in molecular biology.
  • Scientific independence and teamwork skills.
  • Very good knowledge of English.
  • Willingness to gain new expertise.

  • Experimental work:
  • development of novel droplet-based assays for single-cell transcriptome profiling, such as VASA-seq (Nat Biotechnol 40, 1780–1793 (2022). doi.org/10.1038/s41587-022-01361-8 ) or spIndrop (Nat Commun 14, 4788 (2023) (doi.org/10.1038/s41467-023-40322-w).
  • development of molecular biology protocols for single-cell genomics assays (e.g., isolation of nucleic acids, preparation of libraries for NGS, synthetic biology methods for barcoding of nucleic acids)
  • Analysis and publication of the obtained results, participation in the preparation of patent applications, and potential commercialization of the research results
  • Participation in seminars and scientific conferences
  • Supervision of undergraduate students involved in research work in the project.
