The Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center is inviting applications for PhD positions in astrophysics.
NCAC is an astronomical institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, currently holding an A+ category. Research is primarily concentrated on astronomy, astrophysics, astroparticle physics, and associated instrumentation. The institute operates the GeoPlanet Doctoral School , in collaboration with seven scientific institutions.
A range of topics is offered, focusing on high-energy astrophysics, gravitational waves, dark matter, and astroparticle physics. The specific topics are:
- Science with gravitational waves in the era of LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA Discoveries
- Novel detector concepts for future Dark Matter experiments
- Astroparticle physics with neutrinos (and/or muons)
- High-energy astrophysics
- Numerical simulations of relativistic jets from black holes
Detailed descriptions of all topics and contact information to prospective supervisors are provided in the official announcement . Applicants are encouraged to contact their potential supervisors to obtain further details on the proposed research topics.
PhD students in the doctoral school will receive a scholarship for a period of 4 years; please refer to the announcement for specific details.
