Project description:

The project concerns the theoretical study of low-dimensional systems based on first-principles calculations. The main objectives of the project, consist in: (i) calculations of the stability, electronic structure, and optical and magnetic properties of intrinsic and doped two-dimensional forms of boron and its compounds, and (ii) the search for two-dimensional topological insulators with large band gaps.


The candidate should: 

(i) demonstrate knowledge of condensed matter theory, 

(ii) have experience in quantum mechanical calculations within the framework of density functional theory (DFT).

Experience in code development in Python is welcomed.

The call is open to all those who are not PhD holders and are not students at the doctoral schools.

    • announcement of the ranking list: until 17 June 2022

    • accepting documents from qualified candidates: from 20 June to 23 September 2022

    • announcement of the list of accepted candidates: until 30 September 2022


Recruitment fee: 200 PLN


Scholarships:

PRELUDIUM BIS doctoral scholarships shall amount to:

    • PLN 4266.00 gross per month, until the month in which a PhD student’s mid-term evaluation is performed at the doctoral school and

    • PLN 5119.00 gross per month, after the month in which a PhD student’s mid-term evaluation is performed at the doctoral school and

shall be awarded pursuant to the Act on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018.
