About the position
Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Natural Resource Management (MINA) at Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) has a vacant 3-year PhD–position related to modelling of the Northern European energy system.
The decarbonization of the energy sector implies increased use of power for heating. Combined with increased shares of intermittent renewable power generation, this will make the demand, supply, and price of power more sensitive to weather and increase the need for energy system flexibility. The PhD-project will apply the energy system model Balmorel and assess impacts of various sources of uncertainty and stochasticity on the North European Energy System.
The PhD-position is connected to the research project Resilient with several project partners from the Norwegian energy sector, see www.nmbu.no/forside/en/projects/resilient and will give a unique opportunity for a career in the renewable energy sector.
