About the position

A PhD position is available at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at NTNU Norwegian University of Science and Technology. We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our team working on the key challenges of solid-state lithium batteries.

The research will involve the synthesis of solid-state electrolytes (e.g., polymers, ceramics, composites) and in deep characterization in terms of structure, microstructure, electrical tansport properties and chemical and electrochemical combability with Li metal and high voltage/high capacity cathodes. Moreover, the research will encompass the implementation and testing of the solid-state electrolytes in half-cells and full cells.

The available position is affiliated with the Functional Materials and Materials Chemistry research group (FACET) (, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, NTNU Norwegian University for Science and Technology.

Research activities in the department cover functional materials and materials chemistry, nanomaterials, ceramics, electrochemical energy technology, corrosion, physical metallurgy, and metallurgical and electrochemical process engineering.

You will report to Assoc. Professor Dr. Daniel Rettenwander
