Job description

A funded 3 year PhD-position in cardiovascular research is available in the Cardiovascular Research Group led by Professor Torbjørn Omland at Campus Akershus University Hospital (Campus Ahus), Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo, Norway.

The PhD candidate will be funded by the K. G. Jebsen Center for Cardiac Biomarkers for a 3 year PhD position. The candidate will be involved in biomarkers studies in cardiovascular disease.


The candidate

We seek a highly motivated and skilled person with strong commitment to clinical research. The ideal

candidates with previous experience in cardiovascular research and echocardiography are highly encouraged to apply.


Qualification requirements
  • The candidate must hold an MD
  • Experience with echocardiography
  • Knowledge and interest in cardiovascular biomarkers
  • Experience with clinical epidemiology studies
  • Previous experience and publications in cardiovascular research is recommended
  • Fluent oral and written skills in Norwegian and English

Formal regulations

The candidate must take part in the University of Oslo’s approved PhD-program and is expected to complete the project within the set fellowship period. The main purpose of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD-degree. The applicant must, in collaboration with her/his supervisor have worked out a complete project description to be attached to the application for admission to the doctoral program. No one can be appointed for more than one PhD Research Fellowship period at the University of Oslo.
