The Biostatistics as well as Protein Engineering and Proteomics group (PEP group) at the Department of Chemistry, Biotechnology and Food Science has a 3-year PhD position available in the project ““Back to basics: simplifying microbial communities to decrypt complex interactions””, which is financed through a grant of the Norwegian Research Council. The project runs from August 2016.


Description

IKBM is located at Ås Campus 30 km south of Oslo and has approximately 150 employees spread over 12 research groups. The position will interact between the Biostatistics group and the Protein Engineering and Proteomics (PEP) Group. The Biostatistics group does research in the intersection between biology and statistics/computer science, and currently consists of six senior researchers, one postdoc, five PhD students and a number of master students. The PEP group is a large international group (over 40 personnel) with a focus on basic and applied enzymology, bioprocessing, microbiology and anaerobic digestion. The project will also engage in close collaboration with researchers at CIGENE (The Department of Animal and Aquacultural Sciences (IHA), Centre for Integrative Genetics), which includes experimental biologists as well as experts on bioinformatics and mathematical modeling.
