About the position

A PhD position is available at the Department of Chemistry.

For a position as a PhD Candidate, the goal is a completed doctoral education up to an obtained doctoral degree.

The position is financed by NTNU and will involve the development of n-type polymers for organic electrochemical transistors. The project will seek to synthesize appropriate monomers as building blocks and evaluate the synthesis of semiconducting polymers using a variety of polymerization techniques. Finally, the synthesized materials will be evaluated towards their performance as active materials for biosensors.

The theme of the PhD research revolves around organic synthesis. On one end, the candidate is expected to synthesize the appropriate monomers in order to target the required properties for the application as an n-type material. On the other hand, suitable chemical functionalization of promising n-type materials (i.e. graphene) will also take place. We are seeking a person with an interest in organic synthesis and the application of the synthesized materials in the end-device. Knowledge of organic optoelectronic devices is an advantage. The position is located at NTNU in Trondheim, Norway.
