Presentation of the recruiting organization
DiogenX is a preclinical stage biotech company committed to discover and develop new therapeutics for type I diabetes. The applicant will benefit from very well equipped laboratories with state-of-the-art scientific environment, a range of interesting technical and scientific approaches and an excellent working and social atmosphere within the team and the institute. The major focus of our group is the characterization of the molecular mechanisms of pancreatic cell neogenesis using the mouse as a model. The project would focus on a drug inducing insulin-producing cell regeneration.
Description
We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist to join our research team on a project in the fields of mouse genetics, diabetes and cell regeneration. The successful candidate will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary team involved in preclinical studies.
Duties
The candidate is expected to:
- Manage a scientific project independently, from the experimental design to report editing, in collaboration with a team of technicians.
- Suggest experimental design and research strategy demonstrating technical proficiency, scientific creativity and independence.
- Analyze and present results in group meetings.
- Communicate and supervise the technicians in the execution of laboratory experimentation.
Hard skills
The candidate must be skillful with standard molecular biology techniques (e.g CRISPR/Cas9, gene editing, DNA/RNA manipulation, molecular cloning and transfection). Broad expertise in most common molecular techniques, including immunofluorescence, Western blot and qPCR is also required. Experience in protein biochemistry/signaling would be an advantage.
Previous hands-on experience with small animal handling (various dosing techniques, euthanasia, tissue collection) is needed. Experience with mouse surgery would be a plus.
Soft skills
Working language in the group and the department is English and therefore good English communication skills are essential. We expect high motivation and commitment, a competitive scientific productivity and ability to work under pressure. Strong management, organizational and teamwork skills are also critical to this position.
Qualifications
The successful candidate would hold a relevant PhD degree in Molecular/Cellular/Developmental Biology or a similar field.
