Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 15 Jul 2022

IRCAN was created on January 1, 2012 at the heart of the Pasteur university hospital center in Nice. The research carried out at IRCAN aims to understand the biological mechanisms linking aging and cancer, with particular attention paid to the role played by epigenetics, the cellular microenvironment and responses to stress.
The Institute for Research on Cancer and Aging (IRCAN) is a joint research unit under the supervision of the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis, CNRS and Inserm.
IRCAN is made up of more than 210 researchers, technical engineers, post-doctoral students and students. It is made up of 14 research teams and 5 technological platforms.

Positive and negative regulation of genomic repetitive elements

The 'transcription specificity' laboratory is situated in the Institute for Research on Cancer & Aging, Nice (IRCAN). The team studies the molecular mechanisms of gene regulation, focusing on the activities of transcription factors and chromatin at genomic cis-regulatory elements. A special interest of the team is to understand the interplay between gene-regulatory processes and genomic elements such as repetitive and transposon-derived sequences. This is the topic of the present PhD studentship.
A successful candidate will have a solid background in cellular and molecular biology, and experience working with state-of-the-art genomic and molecular techniques, including high-throughput sequencing-based approaches and Crispr-Cas9-driven targeting, as well as a good understanding of bioinformatics and analysis of large genome-wide datasets.
