Tenure: The scholarships will acknowledge diversity and leadership. The opportunity will be given to four Tane and Wāhine throughout Te Waka-a-Māui – the waka of Māui (South Island) and Te Ika-a-Māui - the fish of Māui (North Island).
Te Waiu O Aotearoa Trust was established to promote, develop, and provide for the education and advancement of Māori, within the banking and finance industry, and general business.
Selection criteria:
- The Trustees Panel will consider the applications according to the following criteria: – Leadership at tertiary institute and in the community, and – Involvement with Iwi, Hapū, Marae and wider Māori community, and – Life and work experience, and – Whakapapa with appropriate endorsement, and – Confirmation of study details. The opportunity will be given to up to four Tāne and Wāhine throughout Te Waka-a-Māui (South Island) and Te Ika-a-Māui (North Island). Scholarship awards are valued at a maximum of $5000 (including GST). All applications to the Trust will be assessed against the criteria set out above in accordance with the Trust Deed.

How and when do students learn of the decision?
12 October 2020 - Applications open 17 January 2021 - Applications close 18 – 31 January 2021 - Applications reviewed by assessor panel, interviews held (if applicable) and selections made Around February 2021 - Applicants notified of application outcome (successful and unsuccessful) March 2021 - Scholarship funds paid directly to educational institutes on receipt by the Trust of an appropriate GST invoice for study-related costs.
