Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is recruiting for a Student Recruitment Adviser to join the Future Students team. This new role will be embedded into the Wellington School of Business and Government and the Faculty of Law - and will also work closely with the Communications, Marketing and Engagement team.

The role of the Student Recruitment Adviser (WSBG/LAW) is to plan, coordinate, support and deliver recruitment activities within these two faculties with the goal of increasing the number of domestic students choosing to study in these areas.

The role will support the annual university recruitment events such as open day, information evenings (local and regional), on-campus experience days, post-graduate events – and more! In addition to this will be the development of new recruitment opportunities that promote studies within the Wellington School of Business and Government and the Faculty of Law.

This is a senior role that will work independently with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
A day in the life of a Student Recruitment Adviser will be varied. It can include hosting prospective students on campus, providing tours of our campuses, coordinating and attending school visits, strategic planning and event management, and working closely with academic and professional staff to offer engagement opportunities for our prospective students and their whānau.
Ō pūmanawa - About you

You will be customer-focused, highly organised and proactive. You will be confident in building working relationships and networks, have a passion for event management and enjoy a challenge. You are comfortable with presenting to large groups and will use your experience in people facing roles to engage with a diverse range of audiences.

Helpful to have:

  • A university qualification.
  • Experience of working in a university, tertiary or public sector environment.
  • Experience in marketing, recruitment services or event management.
  • An understanding of the New Zealand secondary school system.
  • Proven ability in working with people at all levels and establishing working relationships and networks.
  • Availability to travel outside Wellington and for working evenings and weekends on limited occasions.
