The New Zealand Government offers scholarships to eligible citizens from developing countries to study in New Zealand. These scholarships are from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade New Zealand.

Scholarships are offered in specific subject areas that are most relevant to the development needs of the recipient's country. This is so they can contribute to making a positive difference to their country when they return home at the end of their scholarship.

Depending on your country you may apply at certificate, undergraduate or postgraduate level.

These scholarships can include:

full tuition fees
a living allowance - this is a contribution to basic living expenses
an initial establishment allowance on arrival
medical insurance
ongoing pastoral care
travel from and to your home country - this is for travel from and return to your home country at the start and end of your scholarship
home leave or reunion travel for some scholars
assistance with research and thesis costs for many postgraduate research students
