Description

This scholarship is open to applicants in their 2nd year of a Bachelor in Architectural Studies, majoring in Landscape Architecture, that have completed all of their coursework and intending to enroll in their 3rd year of a Bachelor in Architectural Studies at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington.


History

This scholarship is a memorial to the late Megan Wraight, who passed away in August, 2020. Founder of Wraight + Associates WĀ, and a visionary landscape architect and a true leader of the profession in Aotearoa-New Zealand, Megan led numerous large-scale urban projects and was involved in a wide range of public and private sector work, including harbour foreshore developments, port redevelopment, educational facilities, transport facilities and urban renewal projects.
This scholarship honours Megan’s passion for the profession and her dedication to educating the next generations of landscape architects. It seeks to support 2nd year students in the Bachelor of Architectural Studies, majoring in Landscape Architecture, who are willing to continue their undergraduate and postgraduate studies to become leading designers and creative thinkers.


Eligibility

Applicants must have completed all their coursework pertaining to the 2nd year of the Bachelor of Architectural Studies, majoring in Landscape Architecture, at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington. To benefit from this scholarship, applicants must be enrolled in the 3rd year of the Bachelor of Architectural Studies, majoring in Landscape Architecture at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington.


Criteria
  • Applicants must have completed all their coursework pertaining to the 2nd year of the Bachelor of Architectural Studies, majoring in Landscape Architecture, particularly LAND212 Landscape Architecture Design Studio II.
  • Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to current professional issues, a flair for design and innovation, good communication skills, and a high academic achievement level.
  • Preference may be given to Māori and Pasifika students.

Application process

A completed online application must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4.30 pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered.

Selection process

Applications will be reviewed by the Programme Director for Landscape Architecture and Course Coordinator for LAND212 at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington, Principals for Landscape Architecture and/or representatives from Wraight + Associates WĀ.


Additional information

Recipients are expected to write a letter of thanks to the donor showing their appreciation, upon receiving the award.

The recipient of this scholarship will also be offered a paid internship at Wraight + Associates WĀ's office located in Wellington, to be arranged directly with the recipient.


Regulations and conditions
  • A completed online application must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4:30pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered.
  • All offers of the Scholarship will be conditional upon the recipient being fully enrolled in a full-year programme (full-time will be at the level of points considered by Studylink as full-time) within the stipulated criteria and tenure of the scholarship. No payment of the Scholarship will be made until this condition is met.
  • The Scholarship cannot be deferred to a later year.
  • The Scholarship may be held in conjunction with other awards.
  • Should the recipient withdraw from Victoria University of Wellington during the tenure of this scholarship or fail to achieve a satisfactory progress, partial repayment of the Scholarship will normally be expected. Recipients must advise the Scholarships Office if they intend to withdraw.
  • Recipients are expected to act as Ambassadors for Victoria University of Wellington and participate in appropriate events or marketing if requested.
  • At the discretion of the Deciding Authority, the application of the terms and conditions of the Scholarship may be modified in special circumstances or to avoid hardship to any candidate for the Scholarship.
