The Award was established in 1942 for assistance to Chemistry students in their Master of Science year, as a memorial to the late Mrs Stanley Phillips, by her sister, Mrs E Ayling of Auckland. In 1997 the regulations were amended so that students proceeding to a Bachelor of Science (Honours) were also eligible, and in 2021 so that students proceeding to the final year of the Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) were also eligible.

You do not need to apply for this scholarship, award or prize or complete an online application form. It is awarded on the recommendation of the relevant faculty or University of Auckland committee.
