The Scholarship was established in 2022 and is funded by a bequest from the estate of Alan Maxwell.
The intention of the Scholarship is to encourage and support academically excellent domestic, and international students who are paying domestic fees, to undertake a PhD in Physics, Computer Science or Mathematics in the Faculty of Science at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland.
