Job description

Are you a Ukrainian PhD candidate, looking for a position in The Netherlands? This temporary PhD position at the Department of Management of Organization, School of Business and Economics may fit well. Please apply at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU).

Your duties

  • you perform high-quality research in the field of strategic management
  • you teach courses at the bachelor level (e.g., the SBE International Business Administration and the SBE Bedrijfskunde programs) and supervise bachelor and master theses
  • you follow relevant PhD-level courses, if still needed

Requirements
  • you have a degree in Research in Management or MSc-degree in Business Administration, Business Economics, Sociology, or related, with a keen research orientation
  • you recently moved from Ukraine, or want to move, due to the war
  • you have quantitative or qualitative research skills, shown for example in the quality and depth of your Master Thesis
  • we are eclectic in terms of research methodology, but demonstrated expertise in either qualitative or quantitative methods is an advantage
  • if you enjoy scholarly teamwork and appreciate publishing in top journals, then this is an advantage

What are we offering?

A position in a socially involved organization. The salary will be in accordance with university regulations for academic personnel and amounts €2,443,- (PhD) per month based on a full-time employment. The job profile is based on the university job ranking system and is vacant for 1 FTE.

The appointment will initially be for 1 year. We offer a Ukrainian student the opportunity to continue the PhD program.

The Department of Management & Organization
The Department of Management and Organization comprises a large, diverse group of micro and macro scholars who seek to combine research excellence with passion in teaching. The department has a strong research tradition, manifested in top tier publication records (Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management Studies etc.) well as in success in attracting external funding for research. The Department has a collaborative ethos with members actively working together on research and teaching projects. Our Department is highly diverse in terms of cultural backgrounds and we enjoy working in an international environment. We offer an active PhD program, Master programs in Entrepreneurship, Management Consulting, Human Resource Management, International Business, Leadership Change Management and Strategy & Organization and a broad range of courses in several Bachelor programs. The PhD candidate will enhance and contribute to the Department’s teaching and research activities and be member of the Strategic Management section. Members of the group publish in journals like Strategic Management JournalStrategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Long Range Planning, International Journal of Management Review, Journal of International Business Studies, Organisation StudiesJournal of Management StudiesManagement International Review, and International Business Review among others.
