PhD student position in stem cell radiobiology of FLASH radiation therapy
Published Deadline Location
today 15 Sep Groningen

Job description
Currently there is increasing interest in FLASH radiation therapy, which may be a paradigm-shifting new method for delivering a high dose of radiation at an ultra-high dose rate (>40Gy/s). The technique has been suggested to protect normal tissues while maintaining anti-tumour efficacy equivalent to that of conventional radiation therapy at similar dose levels.
The successful applicant will investigate the mechanism and effectiveness of Proton FLASH using different models in vitro, such as tumor and normal tissue organoids and in vivo models. Focus will be on mammary gland tumors and surrounding normal tissues. We are looking for a highly motivated and ambitious PhD student with a background in (stem) cell biology, molecular biology, radiation biology or similar.
