Function description

The Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) is a Comprehensive Cancer Center in The Netherlands (Amsterdam). It is a well-organized and dynamic cancer research institute accommodating over 50 research groups and advanced core facilities. It is an internationally renowned center covering fundamental, translational and clinical cancer research.

The department of Radiology, chaired by Professor Regina Beets-Tan, pursues research in oncological imaging. The most established line of research within the group is imaging of colorectal carcinoma, in specific MRI of rectal cancer. Furthermore, research at the department focuses on multiparametric multimodality imaging for prediction of treatment response, covering a broad spectrum of cancer types and on AI as well as Interventional oncology.

We are looking for a PhD student to join the Beets-Tan research group - specifically in the AI for Multi-center Data Team. The AI research line is dedicated to the leveraging of artificial intelligence algorithms to deal with the heterogeneity and need for privacy and explainability characterizing multi-center data. In particular, the research will have a multidisciplinary character and will be answering clinically relevant questions.
