Job description

Several PhD and post-doctoral positions are available in the group of Giovanni Maglia at the University of Groningen in the field of single-molecule protein sequencing and single-molecule enzymology using nanopores. For the Postdoc position ad see: https://www.rug.nl/(...)ils=00347-02S0009H9P

Biological nanopores are an exciting new class of biosensors, which found practical application is in single-molecule DNA sequencing and single-molecule analysis.
We will focus on designing and engineering biological nanopores to recognize either peptides or individual amino acids in proteins. A wide variety of problems will be tackled, which will require designing nanopore, model protein substrates, engineering unfoldases and proteases. The nanopores will be tested using single-molecule electrophysiology techniques.
