Job description

The Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology ICS offers fully funded PhD positions for a variety of projects. The PhD students will be appointed for a four-year period, with a formal evaluation at the end of the first year. In this period the graduates will work on their individual project, leading to a doctoral dissertation.
The program (fully taught in English) will start 1 September 2022. Information about the different PhD projects can be found on the ICS website (https://ics-graduateschool.nl/(...)s/phd-projects-2022/ ) from 16 March 2022.


Qualifications

Excellent candidates who graduated or will graduate shortly are invited to apply, with a specialization in Sociology or related disciplines (e.g. Psychology, Educational Sciences, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics).


Organisation

The Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology (ICS) is an internationally renowned Research Center and Graduate School in the field of Sociology, located in the Netherlands at the Universities of Groningen, Utrecht, Nijmegen, and Amsterdam (UvA).


Conditions of employment

We offer, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, a salary of € 2,443 gross per month in the first year up to € 3,122 gross per month in the fourth year based on a full-time position. Application

Applications, online only through the ICS graduate school website (http://ics-graduateschool.nl/ ), can be submitted as of 17 March 2022. You may apply for this position until 11 April 11:59pm / before 12 April 2021 Dutch local time (CET) by means of the application form (click on "Apply" below on the advertisement on the university website).

Interviews will be conducted on 30 May 2022 and 31 May 2022, online.
Part of the procedure may be that an initial informal interview will be held previous to the interview scheduled on 30 or 31 May. Invitations for interviews will be sent by email after 22 April 2022.
