PhD position in Algebraic Geometry (1.0 FTE)

Job description

Moduli spaces of sheaves on algebraic varieties have interesting applications to many fields ranging from 19th century enumerative geometry to quantum field theory (Yang-Mills theory). Several recent developments led to new directions in the field, such as K-theoretic invariants, real enumeration, and invariants of Calabi-Yau 4-folds. The PhD project explores various new problems through a combination of new and recent techniques. This PhD position in algebraic geometry is funded by NWO Vidi grant VI.Vidi.192.012 (Moduli of sheaves: new directions).

Qualifications We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and skilled applicant who is expected to have finished an MSc in mathematics with top grades. It is a strong advantage when the applicant has taken a basic algebraic geometry course or has done an MSc thesis on algebraic geometry. The applicant is expected to have strong analytic skills. A decent level of English is required.
