Job description
Are you an aspiring researcher with expertise in social sciences and an affinity for sustainability? Then you have a part to play as a PhD candidate. Delve into sustainability discourses and develop your skills to become an expert in your field. This way, you can play your part in the transformation toward sustainable societies.

The Chair group of Strategic Management at the Nijmegen School of Management invites applications for a PhD position on Sustainability Discourses. This position, which is part of the Centre for Responsible Strategy, will be supervised by Prof. René ten Bos and Dr Sjors Witjes and is funded by Radboud University. This critical research project is aiming for a better understanding of the concepts which are usually employed in the aforementioned Sustainability Discourses (e.g. sustainability, recycling, or resilience). The goal is to develop a philosophically and ethnographically informed perspective on the use of these concepts in a variety of settings. The discursive analyses will have both a conceptual (philosophical) and empirical (ethnographic) character. More specifically, this research will focus on how the concepts that undergird Sustainability Discourses frequently gain a moral (rather than technical) character and how this can vary in different regions.
Your task will be to coordinate the research project, collect and analyse data, organise the meetings with the supervisory team and discussions with different actors involved in the research project, conduct research, write scientific articles, and complete a PhD thesis on time. You will also participate in conferences and other scholarly and valorisation activities, including the supervision of Master's theses related to the PhD research.
