Additional comments

Project
The PhD project will be focused on the development and use of advanced psychometric tools for studying test-taking behavior and response processes. With the advance of computerized testing, a wide range of process data (for example, response time data) are becoming available that provide a unique opportunity to gain further insight into the exact processes that led respondents to provide the answers that they have given. For example, these process data can provide insight into how motivated a respondent was, what response strategy they employed, and to what extent they were operating under time pressure. Studying and modeling these phenomena is important in many applications of psychological and educational tests. It is especially relevant in international large-scale assessment, where cultural differences between countries may result in important differences in how respondents take the test, confounding measurement and country comparisons. The PhD candidate for this project will contribute both to the development of new psychometric models and methods that improve the toolset for capturing relevant differences in test-taking behavior, as well as contributing the correct application of these psychometric tools in testing practice.
