The Institute for Clinical Diabetology (Director: Prof. Dr. Michael Roden), research group “Inflammation“ (Head: Prof. Dr. Christian Herder) is looking for a talented and highly motivated Doctoral student for analyses of immune cells in endotypes of diabetes
Job description

Research area:

  • Investigation of the link between immune cells and diabetes endotypes using molecular and cell biological methods in human samples (e.g. flow cytometry, isolation and functional analyses of monocytes and regulatory T cells, gene expression analyses).
  • Statistical analysis, documentation and assessment of your results.
  • Close collaboration with the Clinical Research Center at DDZ and with our project partner in Paris within the framework of this DFG-funded project.

Requirements
  • You hold a Master‘s degree in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or a related field.
  • You have very good theoretical knowledge and experimental experience in molecular and cell biology, cell culture and flow cytometry.
  • You are a team player who can also work independently.
  • You are a reliable and communicative person who is willing to work in an international surrounding.
  • You have an excellent written and spoken command of the English language.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 3 + 1 years.

  • The employment contact is goverend by TV-L in its current version for North Rhine-Westphalia including the special regulations regarding the scientific area. The salary is based on qualification and experience according to TV-L.

The German Diabetes Center (DDZ) , Leibniz Center for Diabetes Research at Heinrich Heine University (HHU) Düsseldorf, is an interdisciplinary research institute that links basic and clinical sciences to improve prevention, diagnosis and therapy of diabetes mellitus and its complications. The DDZ is an interdisciplinary research center linking molecular and cell biological basic research with clinical investigation.
